Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be led by MS Dhoni throughout the 2023 IPL season, which begins on March 31.
Before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 began, there was rumour that former India captain MS Dhoni might be participating in his final T20 league season. As the 2023 IPL season begins on March 31 with a match between his team and the reigning champion Gujarat Titans, Dhoni will serve as the team’s captain.
But, former CSK batter Suresh Raina has made a suggestion that Thalla would be available to play in the IPL 2024 as well, which might be fantastic news for Dhoni supporters around the world. That will all rely on Captain Cool performance and fitness in the IPL in 2023, according to Raina, who left the IPL after the 2017 season and is presently playing for the India Maharajas in Legends League Cricket (LLC).
“Agle saal ho sakta hai wo fir IPL khelein. Unka form achcha lag raha hai, batting achcha kar rahe hain. It all depends ke kaisa khelta hai this season. Kaafi challenging hoga, ek saal se tournament nahi khelein hai wo,” Raina said after the match against the World Giants on Wednesday (March 15) night.

“I think the CSK team is quite strong, there are some you players coming in like Ruturaj (Gaikwad), (Devon) Conway and Ben Stokes is also joining the team,” the former CSK southpaw added.
When asked if Dhoni answers his telephone calls, Raina said, “Yes we speak on the phone often. He has been training hard in Chennai, as you can see in some of his recent videos as well.”
Dhoni isn’t yet qualified to participate in the Legends League Cricket, unlike Raina. The CSK captain has not yet stopped playing in all levels of Indian cricket despite his retirement from international cricket. According to BCCI regulations, a player must entirely give up playing Indian cricket in order to be eligible to compete in international leagues or any other competition. Domestic, IPL, and international cricket are all played in India.
Dhoni has scored 4,978 runs at an average of 39.2 and a strike rate of 135.2 in 234 IPL games to date, with 24 fifty-plus scores. Dhoni scored 232 runs in 14 games during the IPL 2022, but CSK was unable to advance to the Playoffs stage.
