Will Rohit Sharma Lead India In The T20 World Cup? Find Out Here

Even as the clamour on social media around the Mumbai Indians captaincy drama involving Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and the fans refuses to cease, Rohit Sharma and his fans have received a piece of positive news about his India captaincy profile.

While Rohit won’t be the MI captain anymore, it hasn’t affected his stocks as India’s T20I captain and he remains the first-choice to lead India in next year’s T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA. Though that opens space for weird and usual feeling in the cricket fraternity as to an India captain not leading his IPL franchise, which has never happened so far – MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli have remained their IPL franchise’s captains at least until they were India’s T20I skippers.

Rohit Sharma is a natural captain, says a BCCI official

As per a report in Dainik Jagran on Sunday, the captaincy shift in the Mumbai Indians, from Rohit to Hardik, has not influenced or affected the thinking of the selectors and the BCCI, and Rohit Sharma will most likely lead India in next year’s T20 World Cup as he has been in solid form in the World Cup 2023 as well.

Dainik Jagran reportedly asked a top BCCI official whether Hardik would lead India in the T20 World Cup, and the response from the BCCI official was a firm “no”. The official added that Rohit is a “natural captain” and the BCCI is sticking with him.

Hardik Pandya Or Rohit Sharma - Who Should Captain India In The T20 World Cup 2024?

A couple of weeks ago, a meeting was held in Delhi between India head coach Rahul Dravid, BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar, and Rohit Sharma, where Rohit reportedly asked a confirmation and clarification about his T20I captaincy in view of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma is currently preparing to captain India in a 2-Test series in South Africa. India are aiming to win their maiden Test series in South Africa, who are likely to be without Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje.
