World Cup 2015: West Indies drop Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard

In a very shocking move, the West Indies Cricket Board have dropped Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard from their ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 squad.

Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard are not part of 15-man West Indies World Cup squad, Dinanath Ramnarine, the former West Indies legspinner and former longtime president of West Indies Players Association tweeted.

However, the West Indies Cricket Board have neither confirmed nor denied the news and told the media to await a formal announcement likely on Saturday.

Dinanath Ramnarine also tweeted that he will miss Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 and their fans are being victimized.

Last month, the selection panel, headed by former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd, dropped Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard and Darren Sammy from the ODI series against South Africa, and young all-rounder Jason Holder was announced as West Indies ODI captain for the series.

This happened after West Indian players, led by their captain Dwayne Bravo, decided to walk off from the series against India due to some contract related issues with the West Indies Cricket Board. Dwayne Bravo, who was West Indies captain in that series, had vocalised the players’ stance in several letters to the WICB and WIPA.

The West Indies Cricket Board(WICB) have yet to officially announce their 15-man squad for the quadrennial event but Ramnarine’s tweet on Thursday, only fuelled further speculations surrounding the absence of these two senior players from the big event in Australia-New Zealand. Bravo and Pollard are currently involved in the T20 series away at South Africa.
