Simultaneously, BCCI also unveiled India’s World Cup squad, captained by Rohit Sharma with Hardik Pandya as vice-captain. Other notable players include Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Jasprit Bumrah. This ensemble promises a thrilling show for the World Cup, set to kick off on October 5.
Billed as the biggest Cricket World Cup ever, the event spans 10 venues and includes 48 matches over 46 days. Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad has the honor of hosting both the opening match and the grand finale. Other venues include cities like Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai, diversifying the locations where the magic will unfold.
Moreover, Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram will join Hyderabad in hosting practice games, widening the geographical spread of the tournament. This expansive setup came after a rigorous qualification process. While eight teams earned their spots through the Cricket World Cup Super League, the last two – Sri Lanka and the Netherlands – battled it out in a qualifier in Zimbabwe.

The climax of the tournament promises to be intense. The top four teams will lock horns in the semi-finals on November 15 and 16 in Mumbai and Kolkata, respectively. Both matches, along with the final on November 19, have allocated reserve days, adding a safety net for unforeseen disruptions.
While the lineup and venues have generated immense excitement, it’s the golden ticket to Amitabh Bachchan that steals the limelight. His presence is bound to add a layer of glamour to an already star-studded event. Bachchan, a lifelong cricket enthusiast, has frequently been seen at matches and even lent his voice for cricket commentaries in the past.
