WTC 2023 Final: On Tuesday, the All-India Senior Selection Committee revealed the 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC World Test Championship final against Australia. The much-awaited WTC Final will kickstart from 7th – 11th June (12th June is reserve day) at The Oval. Earlier this year, India had booked their place in the final following a 2-1 series win at home against Australia.
Ajinkya Rahane Returns To The Test Squad
Ajinkya Rahane, who has been out of the Indian Test scene since January 2022, has finally earned his place in India’s 15-man squad for the upcoming World Test Championship final against Australia in June.
Rahane last played for Team India in the Cape Town Test against South Africa last year, where he made 9 and 1, and ever since then he has not played a Test match because of his poor run of form. He was dropped from the Test series against Sri Lanka.
However, after recovering from his injuries, Rahane went on to play for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy and ended as the leading scorer in the Ranji Trophy, with 634 runs from seven matches, including a double-century against Hyderabad, and 191 against Assam.
Not just this, Rahane has surprised everyone with his stunning form in the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League, where he is plying his trade for the Chennai Super Kings.
Shubman Gill To Open With Rohit Sharma
Besides Rahane, left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat has retained his place in the 5-man pace attack, which also has Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Umesh Yadav.
