Rajasthan Royals opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has continued on his supreme touch in the IPL 2023 by slamming 35 runs off 18 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Jaipur on Sunday.
With this superb knock, Yashasvi Jaiswal gave his team a quickfire start and even, once again, outshined Jos Buttler in the powerplay. Ultra-aggressive attacking has been his template in the powerplay this season. Today, however, he failed to cash in on his good start and was dismissed by Marco Jansen.
Also, en route to his 35 runs today, Yashasvi Jaiswal crossed the 1000-run landmark in his IPL career.
Yashasvi Jaiswal now becomes the second-youngest batsman in the IPL to reach 1000 runs

Yashasvi Jaiswal was 21 years and 130 days old today at the time of making his 1000th IPL run. Only Rishabh Pant achieved this feat at a younger age – 20 years and 218 days. Behind Pant and Jaiswal are Shaw, Samson, Gill, and Padikkal. Virat Kohli, who made his IPL debut at the age of 18 but took 2-3 seasons to settle in the RCB line-up, is not in the top 5.
Youngest to reach 1000 IPL runs:
Pant – 20yrs 218d
Jaiswal – 21yrs 130d*
Prithvi – 21yrs 169d
Samson – 21yrs 183d
Gill – 21yrs 222d
Yashasvi Jaiswal is currently the second-leading run-scorer in the IPL 2023 season, only behind Faf du Plessis. The left-handed RR opener has amassed 477 runs in 11 innings at an average of 43 and strike rate of 160 with 3 fifties and a bumper century – against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede – to his name. He has been one of the best batsmen in the powerplay in the IPL 2023.
Meanwhile, Sanju Samson won the toss and elected to bat first against SRH in Jaipur. Joe Root got to make his IPL debut as he replaced Trent Boult in the XI.
