Yuvraj Singh has spotted a “serious” talent in Vijay Hazare Trophy

India’s swashbuckling all-rounder Yuvraj Singh lauded 17-year old boy Shubham Gill for his brilliant display of batting on a “tough” wicket in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. Shubham, 17, plays for Punjab and he came into limelight after his eye-catching performance in the five-match ODI series against England U-19.

Yuvraj Singh enjoyed watching Shubham Gill bat against Assam in the Vijay Hazare trophy and declared him a “serious talent” in a tweet. On a difficult wicket, Shubham fought a lone battle for Punjab as the wickets tumbling at the other end. He kept his cool and showed good technique and slammed a knock of 121 to help his side post 243 in 50 overs.

Here’s what Yuvraj Singh tweeted:

Reflecting on his ton, Shubham Gill was quoted saying by Indian Express:

“When I came in to bat, I had my target set that I need to bat long and anchor my innings well. Wickets kept falling at the other end and I was waiting for one good partnership so that we can set up a competitive total against them (Assam). Unfortunately Yuvi ‘paaji’ also got out early. However, the 141-run partnership with Gurkeerat Singh Mann (58) helped us rebuild our innings.”
