Suryakumar Yadav

Indian middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav had a forgettable run in the recently-concluded 3-match ODI series against Australia. The T20 sensation was seen failing miserably as he bagged three back-to-back ducks in the series and failed to play more than one delivery in every game.

Suryakumar Yadav Is Facing Criticism

Surya’s repeated failures in the ODI format have brought him under the scanner of criticism. While he is yet to do anything wrong in the shortest format of the game ever since making his debut in the year 2021, in the ODIs he has failed time and again to make an impact.

In the first two games, SKY continued his woeful form in the 50-over format. SKY, who is the world’s no. 1 ranked T20I batter also became the first Indian to register a hat trick of ducks in the 50-over format. He was trapped LBW by Starc’s inswingers in both matches.

In the 3rd ODI match, SKY walked out to bat at a crucial phase in India’s chase of 270 in the series decider. However, he was bowled by a left-arm spinner Ashton Agar after he stayed back on the creams to a delivery that was bowled at 91 kmph.

Yuvraj Singh Backed SKY

Meanwhile, amidst all the criticism and debate around his form3r33, former Indian cricketer and World Cup hero Yuvraj Singh has come out in support of SKY. On Saturday, Yuvraj took to his social media and shared a heartfelt Tweet for the Indian batter and backed him to make a strong comeback, As per Yuvi, Suryakumar will play an important role in the World Cup. He wrote:

“Every sports person goes thru ups & downs in their career! We’ve all experienced it at sum point. I believe @surya_14kumar is a key player for India & will play an imp role in the #WorldCup if given the opportunities. Let’s back our players coz our Surya will rise again,”
