3 Players From Chennai Super Kings Who May Not Get A Single Game In IPL 2020

The 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League is just three months as all the members of the cricket universe await its beginnings. The fans will have their eyes on the most consistent team in IPL history, Chennai Super Kings because MS Dhoni will become the first captain to lead the same IPL team for the 11th year.

Dhoni has had an exceptional record as the CSK skipper and the fact that the franchise has qualified for the next round in all the seasons that it has featured solidifies the aforementioned claim. The main reason why CSK have been so successful is their captain’s ideology to stick to the same XI.

The former Indian skipper does not like to alter his playing XI much and hence, the following three players may not get a single game for Chennai Super Kings in 2020.

Karn Sharma:

Indian leg-spinner, Karn Sharma has been one of the luckiest players in IPL history. He had won the title with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016 then with Mumbai Indians in 2017 and later as a part of Chennai Super Kings in 2018. Despite having a bunch of spinners in the team, CSK retained Sharma prior to the auction.
The Railways all-rounder has played 63 IPL matches in his career where he has taken 54 wickets with his best bowling figures being 4/16. Also, his economy rate of 7.82. Because of his talent, he could have easily walked into the playing XI of any IPL team.

However, CSK has the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Mitchell Santner, Harbhajan Singh, R Sai Kishore, Piyush Chawla, and Imran Tahir in their spin attack thus, it is highly unlikely that the team management would consider using Karn’s services in IPL 2020.

Monu Kumar:

Hailing from MS Dhoni’s hometown, Ranchi, Monu Kumar is an upcoming talent who has impressed with his all-round skills at the domestic level. The 25-year-old all-rounder is a right-handed batsman who can also bowl a few overs of right-arm medium pace in the middle.

Talking about his records in the T20 format, Kumar has played 22 T20 matches in his career where he has scored 34 runs at a strike rate of 121.42. With the ball, Monu has taken 25 wickets while giving away runs at an economy rate of 6.90.

Although his economy rate is exceptional and he has the best figures of 4/14 in T20 cricket, MS Dhoni may not use him in the playing XI even once. The reason behind it is the presence of DJ Bravo, Sam Curran and Deepak Chahar in the CSK squad.

Narayan Jagadeesan:

Narayan Jagadeesan is perhaps one of the unluckiest players in IPL history. Despite having a ton of talent, the 23-year-old wicket-keeper batsman may never get an opportunity to prove his talent in the IPL. MS Dhoni is the best keeper on the world and he rarely misses matches for Chennai.

Last year, he had taken an injury break as he had played a lot of matches heading into IPL but this year he has stayed away from the cricket field to work on his fitness. Expect him to play all the matches for CSK in IPL 2020 and since none of the teams prefer to have 2 wicket-keepers in one playing XI, Jagadeesan will warm the bench for the entire season.
