Prithvi Shaw Posts An Emotional Insta Story After Being Fatshamed By Fans

India and Delhi Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw was trolled and criticized brutally on social media this week for his fitness (lack of it) after he posted a video of his return to a net session as he recovers from a knee injury.

Prithvi Shaw sustained a knee injury in August while he in was thunderous form while he playing for Northamptonshire in the One-Day Cup competition in England.

He is on course to complete recovery from that knee injury. He made a return to the nets with a light indoor net session and shared a small clip with his fans.

However, fans on social media made fun of his fitness as he looked to have put on some extra weight. One fan even said he looked more like a “full time food vlogger” than a cricketer amid the rant of the fans on his indiscipline and less regard for his fitness.

The 24-year-old in the past has opened up about the mental health issues he has had to deal with, which were compounded by some off-field drama.

On Friday, Prithvi Shaw posted a cryptic message in his Instagram story

Shaw shared a quote on his Insta story: “Accept both compliments and criticism. Because a flower to grow takes both sun and rain.”

The essence here perhaps is that while fans hailed him when he was scoring runs, the same fans have been trolling him and chastising him for his fitness.

Prithvi Shaw seemed to have made a timely recovery from the knee injury. He was sidelined for at least three months in September due to the knee injury, and now has missed a major chunk of the domestic season.

Shaw and his domestic team management in Mumbai are hoping that the opener will be fit to play in the Ranji Trophy in January. Performances and form in the Ranji trophy would be crucial for Shaw ahead of the IPL 2024 season after a poor season he had in 2023.

Shaw last played for India in 2021.
