IND vs ENG: Dinesh Karthik Credits RCB For Akash Deep's Success

Veteran Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik praised Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for their role in nurturing the talent of Akash Deep, the promising Bengal pacer, whose impressive Test debut drew attention on Friday, February 23.

Akash Deep Made A Dream Debut For India

In the ongoing Test against England, Akash Deep’s performance disrupted England’s strong start. After the visitors’ openers, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett, formed a 47-run partnership, Akash Deep swiftly dismissed Duckett and Ollie Pope in the tenth over. Shortly after, he bowled a stunning delivery to dismiss Crawley, further strengthening India’s position in the match.

Akash Deep, who was preferred over Mukesh Kumar to replace Jasprit Bumrah in the fourth Test, justified his selection with an impactful performance. His three quick wickets played a key role in India’s dominance after England opted to bat first upon winning the toss.

It has to be noted that Akash Deep secured his first IPL contract with RCB in 2021 as a replacement for Washington Sundar. Initially a net bowler for the team, he was later signed in the 2022 auction. Making his IPL debut that year, he has played seven matches and claimed six wickets for the franchise.
