An Open Letter To Asha Joy

Dear Asha Joy,

A few months ago a news from a fringe cricketing league in Pondicherry made the ripples in the world that (You) Asha Joy have smashed a century in a T10 final. Talk about drama and the repercussions that sent the world into a dizzying spiral and there it was.

Fast forward by eight months and then here (You) Asha Joy were rocking and rolling against the finest in the world under almost impregnable circumstances. RCB Women had challenges in the maiden edition of the tournament, struggling to find their first win.

When it felt like that there were two set batters in the center, steering UP Warriorz to the finish line without breaking a sweat, there you were conjuring magic out of thin air. The turn, the line, the length, it all would feel ridiculous in a T20 game. Why so? Not every leggie has the audacity of giving air to the deliveries and even tossing them right in the slot.

Not only did you give your deliveries air but you also managed to invite the batter with those loopy moonballs, asking them to come forward if they could and smash you as hard as they could. Then there they were trying their best to take you for a ride and you were sneaking through their defences left right and center.

From turning the ball to drill one quicker through the air, getting the ball to skid off the surface, leaving your opposition in utter agony, you did it all. You left the batters gasping for breath while trying to come down the track against you.

Asha, not only was it only the details that set you apart but it was also your grit and gumption under almost insurmountable circumstances that left the opposition reeling. The bravery that you showed when almost any bowler would take a defensive route was unthinkable.

This is just the start of a dream. Stick to it, Turn it into a reality like never before.

Yours sincerely,

A crazy cricket fan
