Wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav sprayed his magic with the ball to clatter the middle stump of Zak Crawley in England’s second innings in the Ranchi Test.
Kuldeep Yadav has been on a roll in the Ranchi Test. In England’s first innings, although he didn’t take any wickets, he conceded only 22 runs in 12 overs. Then he waged a strong vigil with the bat, playing 131 balls for 28 runs and giving Dhruv Jurel solid support that allowed India to cross 300 runs in reply to England’s 353.
In England’s second innings, he took four wickets out of the first eight wickets to fall. One of them was the dangerous Zak Crawley – bowled via a superb delivery. Crawley was the only England batter who got going in the second innings, but it was only until Kuldeep Yadav’s introduction in the 25th over.
From thereon, the leg-spinner straightaway started troubling Crawley, and eventually got him out in his third over. Kuldeep gave rip to a length delivery, drifting it beautifully across the batter and pitching it on length outside the off-stump.
Crawley played the ball on the back foot – though, in fairness, he should have been on the front foot. The ball turned and missed Crawley’s shot on the offside and hit the middle stump. Kuldeep Yadav wheeled in his celebration as India got rid of a the dangerous England opener.

Meanwhile, at the time of writing, England are 136/8 but the lead is 182, which could be a winning total given the pitch that had been staying low is now also offering of turn and grip.
Earlier, India got bowled out for 307, conceding a first-innings deficit of 46 runs.
