Latest Update On Suryakumar Yadav’s Availability For IPL 2024 After Hernia Surgery

The Mumbai Indians have been given a massive dent as Suryakumar Yadav is reportedly set to miss the first half of the IPL 2024 season following his hernia surgery.

The 33-year-old India and Mumbai Indians star has given an update on his surgery recently, while reports last month had already confirmed of his status and availability this season.

Suryakumar Yadav underwent surgery on his groin in Germany on January 17 for a sports hernia.

There had been rumors of Suryakumar also undergoing an ankle injury for an injury that he picked up in December in South Africa. However, the batsman has made it clear that his surgery last month was for his hernia and not on the ankle.

Suryakumar Yadav posted on his Instagram story to clarify his surgery information.

“Hello everyone, good morning. Hope you all are doing well. Just wanted to clear something up. Bit of a confusion, I guess. For those who aren’t aware, l was operated on for SPORTS HERNIA a few weeks back not for my ankle. The road to recovery is going really well. Thank you, everyone, for all the love and support, see you all soon.” SKY captioned.

Suryakumar was recently spotted at the NCA facility of the BCCI in Bangalore. Before his ankle injury, he played a couple of outstanding knocks as India’s interim T20I skipper in South Africa. SKY blasted 56 off 36 balls in the second T20I in Gqeberha and 100 off 56 balls in the third T20I in Johannesburg on December 14.

Suryakumar Yadav is the number one T20I batsman in the world. He has been in sensational T20 form for the past few years and was crucial in Mumbai Indians reaching the playoffs last season despite missing a few important players and a couple of others being out of form.

Suryakumar Yadav is likely to miss the first half of the tournament. MI would be hoping for the 33-year-old T20 superstar to be fit soon and take the field.

Meanwhile, the IPL 2024 season will get underway on March 22 in Chennai.
