Every year, the Indian Premier League (IPL), the world’s wealthiest cricket tournament, reveals new talents. But only twice has there been excited talk about a young Indian fast bowler because of their exceptional speed. Umran Malik from Indian-administered Kashmir made waves three years ago. In IPL 2024, it’s Mayank Yadav who is quickly gaining attention for his incredible pace.
Mayank Yadav To Get Ruled Out Of Next 2 Matches Of LSG

Mayank made his IPL debut for Lucknow Super Giants against Punjab Kings in March and impressed everyone with his fast bowling. He bowled a delivery at 155.8 km/h (96 mph) and even won the man-of-the-match award on his debut.
In the following match, Yadav outdid himself with a delivery clocking at 156.7 km/h (96 mph) – the fastest of the season yet. He also secured his second consecutive man-of-the-match award against Royal Challengers Bangalore, a first in IPL history for a debutant. In total, he claimed six wickets for 41 runs across the two matches.
Ian Bishop, commentator, and former West Indies bowler, praised Yadav’s performance, describing him as a “child of the wind”.
Dale Steyn, renowned as one of the greatest fast bowlers in history and Yadav’s idol, expressed his astonishment on Twitter, saying, “Mayank Yadav where have you been hiding!” After Yadav’s second game, Steyn tweeted, “That’s a serious ball! #PACE”.
Despite their victory, Lucknow faced a significant setback during the match when their emerging pace sensation, Mayank Yadav, had to leave the field due to an injury. Yadav had to walk off in the ninth over of the run chase because of a side strain.
After the match, Krunal reassured fans that Yadav’s injury was not serious. He mentioned that the youngster would not miss any future matches due to the injury. Speaking after the match, the all-rounder said:
“I don’t know what exactly happened to Mayank Yadav, but I had a couple of seconds with him. So, I think he is okay to continue in future matches. That is positive news for us. He was bowling well in the nets earlier and last season before missing the tournament due to an injury. Whatever conversation I have had, whatever we see, he has a good head on his shoulder. Really excited to see how his career pans out.”
Reports were suggesting that Mayank Yadav would miss the next two matches and might return for the encounter on the 19th of April. Considering his promising performance, fans were hopeful for his speedy recovery and return to the field.
