IND vs ENG: Suryakumar Yadav’s lone effort went in vain as India fell 17 runs short of England’s total of 215 in the third T20I but take the series 2-1 having won the first two matches.
Yadav plundered 117 runs off 55 balls in what was largely a single-handed fight put up by India while trying to scale down a mammoth target; the next highest score in the Indian innings was 28 by Shreyas Iyer, who took 23 balls to score those. Iyer and Suryakumar shared a big partnership of 119 runs off 62 balls – out of which, though, it SKY doing bulk of the hitting with 86 runs in 39 balls in his stand with Iyer. No other batsman could go past 20.
India were pegged back early in the chase by Reece Topley and David Willey as the top three of Rishabh Pant, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were dismissed with only 31 on the board before Iyer and SKY brought India back.
Suryakumar Yadav has sealed his spot for the T20 World Cup

Even as India lost Iyer, Dinesh Karthik and Ravindra Jadeja, on the other end, Suryakumar kept sending the balls to the boundary line to keep India afloat.
He gave a big hope when he smashed Moeen Ali in the 19th over for 2 fours and a six bringing the equation down to 25 required off the last 8 balls but finally a played a mishit and was caught at long-off and that was the end of India’s challenge.
England had got off to a rollicking start with Jos Buttler and Jason Roy creaming away boundaries – in the absence of Bhuvneshwar Kumar who was rested – before both the openers fell with the total at 61.
And despite another quick wicket, of Phil Salt, Dawid Malan and Liam Livingstone continued with the momentum and tore into the Indian bowlers as the innings end neared. Malan ended as England’s top-scorer with 77 off 39 balls while Livingstone did a Livingstone at the end with 42 off 29 balls taking his side to 215 as 3 of the 5 Indian bowlers on show leaked above 10 runs an over.
Memes galore today as SKY fought single-handedly while the big guns, in name and in experience, faltered around him.
