When Sourav Ganguly Got Angry At DK: Dinesh Karthik’s comeback to the Indian team this year, at the age of 37, has been nothing short of a fairytale.

Three years after being dropped from the national side, Karthik took the IPL 2022 by storm – batting for Royal Challengers Bangalore he smashed 330 runs at a strike rate of 183 and earned his recall for the South Africa series, where he played a match-winning knock of 55 off 27 balls – also his first T20I fifty, 16 years after making debut – in a must-win encounter and has all but sealed his place for the T20 World Cup in Australia.

When Ganguly got irked by Karthik

Speaking with host Gaurav Kapur on the latter’s show, Breakfast with Champions, Karthik recalled a hilarious incident when, as a youngster, he got the then skipper Sourav Ganguly angry during an India-Pakistan 2004 Champions Trophy game.

Karthik, who had made his ODI debut a few days ago vs England, wasn’t playing in that Pakistan encounter. While going to serve drinks to the fielding Indian side, Karthik sprinted toward the Indian huddle and couldn’t apply the brakes due to the grass – and then banged right into Ganguly!

‘Dada’ was so angry at this that he shouted “Where do you get these players from, who is he?’

Yuvraj Singh, who was part of that game and that huddle recalled the exact words which Ganguly blurted out: “Kaun hai re ye pagal ! kahan se pakad ke Latien hai”

The video was uploaded on the show’s Twitter handle, and below is the comment from Yuvraj Singh recalled that hilarious incident:
