The Indian cricket team has suffered yet another injury blow on the England tour ahead of the upcoming second Test match against England. It is suspected that Shardul Thakur has suffered a hamstring injury and the team management is suffering a selection headache as they are likely to drop Shardul from the playing XI.

In the past few Test series, he has emerged out to be India’s crisis man as he has always provided India with some crucial breakthroughs. Yet again, in the first Test match against England, Shardul bowled his heart out and provided his team with the most crucial wickets of the match.

Thakur, who was India’s fourth seamer during the first Test in Nottingham, picked up four wickets in the first test match.  Doubts regarding Thakur’s fitness surfaced during the second innings of the 1st test match although he did not show any evident unease on the outside. On Monday, he arrived for training at Lord’s and spent time in the gym alongside physiotherapist Nitin Patel and trainer Nick Webb.

Later, the pacer couldn’t bowl in the nets on Tuesday according to The New Indian Express and he has been advised to rest. Though he won’t be available for the 2nd Test match but as there is a gap of 9 days between the 2nd and 3rd Test, it could help him recover in time for the Leeds Test.

Meanwhile, fans on social media were left heartbroken after the news and came up with reactions to the same. Among many, a popular cricket fan named Gaurav Sethi came up with an amazing tweet while reacting to the news. In his tweet, he joked that there can be only one lord at a time. He wrote:

“Shardul Thakur out of the Lord’s Test. Because there can be only one lord at a time”

Meanwhile, now the key question is who will replace Shardul Thakur. The Indian team management has the choice of either picking spinning all-rounder R Ashwin or fourth seamer Ishant Sharma/Umesh Yadav.
