Bangladesh’s star–cricketer Shakib Al Hasan, who is known for creating moments of brilliance with both bat and ball, has found himself at the receiving end of criticism and trolling. The cricketer stirred controversy on Friday after he lashed out at the on-field umpire and kicked the stumps amidst a match.

The incident took place during the 40th match of the ongoing 2021 Dhaka Premier League (DPL) between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Abahani Limited when Shakib Al Hasan aggressively expressed dissent at the decision of the on-field umpire.

In one of the deliveries of the fifth over, Shakib appealed for an LBW decision against Mushfiqur. However, the on-field umpire didn’t give the batter out. And surprisingly, Shakib lashed out at the umpire and even went on to kick the stumps in sheer frustration.

Shakib is getting brutally trolled by fans on social media and the video of the controversial incident is making rounds on the internet.

After receiving criticism, Shakib Al Hasan took to his official Facebook account and issued a public apology. In his post, Shakib apologized to his fans and followers for losing his temper and ruining the match. He wrote:

“Dear fans and followers, I am extremely sorry for losing my temper and ruining the match for everyone and especially those who are watching from home. An experienced player like me should not have reacted that way but sometimes against all odds it happens unfortunately. I apologize to the teams, management, tournament officials and organizing committee for this human error. Hopefully, I won’t be repeating this again in the future. Thanks, and love you all. SAH.”
