India vs England 2016: BCCI owe £80,000 to ECB

England’s tour manager Phil Neal has requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to speed up the payments due to the England cricketers on the ongoing tour. These payments are the allowances that the host nation pays to the touring side. Reportedly, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hasn’t made any payment to the English cricketers. England have already played two matches and this is the reason why England’s manager has asked BCCI to clear the payment as soon as they can.

Alastair Cook and his men have been in India for 20 days now but they haven’t been paid their daily allowances of £50 per day by the BCCI. The amount due for the 16 team staff and the 17 players amounts to £80,000.

According to some media reports, at the moment, cash flow, as far as the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is concerned, isn’t an issue. But sources have stated that it is a matter of principle that the host nation pays its dues to the England players who have made the tour.

Prior to the start of the tour, the ECB, and the BCCI had signed a memorandum of understanding with the BCCI hamstrung by the restrictions imposed on them by the Lodha Panel. The Lodha committee had also gone on to freeze the bank accounts of the board during the New Zealand tour, something that had threatened the completion of the series.
