Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has said that Ravindra Jadeja had seemed like a “fish out of water” during his stint as the Chennai Super Kings skipper that lasted 8 matches in IPL 2022 out of which the team only won two.
With the team not putting up impressive performances and his own form taking a dip, Jadeja handed back the captaincy to MS Dhoni.
Ravi Shastri reckoned Jadeja was never a “natural captain”. He also defended Jadeja pointing out that the left-hander had prior experience in leadership at higher levels, adding that it was the franchise’s decision and Jadeja shouldn’t be faulted for CSK‘s failures this season.
Jadeja hasn’t had the best time on the field, managing only 116 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 118 and has taken only 5 wickets.
Dhoni: the defending champions have kept their playoff hopes alive with two wins in the last three matches. CSK have 8 points in 11 matches and now have a positive net run rate. Should they win all their 3 remaining games, which will take them to 14 points, and all other results fall in their favour, they could force a 14-point tie with one or two other teams for the fourth spot.
