IPL 2022: Gautam Gambhir Made A Strong Statement On Mohsin Khan

Gautam Gambhir Made A Strong Statement On Mohsin Khan: Lucknow Super Giants are sitting pretty firmly at the second position in the points table, having won 7 of their 10 matches so far this season, and are close to sealing a spot in the playoffs.

Their latest win came against the Delhi Capitals and Man of the Match Mohsin Khan got huge praise from team mentor Gautam Gambhir. The young left-arm seamer returned with stunning figures of 4/16 in his four overs and bagged the Player of the Match award.

He dismissed David Warner and Rishabh Pant first, before taking out Rovman Powell and Shardul Thakur in one over. Gambhir felt that this double-wicket over from Mohsin turned the game in LSG’s favour.

“For me, the standout player was Mohsin Khan. You can’t ask for someone like him and this kind of a spell on such a wicket at Wankhede – four overs 4/16… unbelievable. But we still haven’t played out best cricket and there is still a long way to go. Mohsin’s over turned the game in our favour. It’s not about one over, but the spell that he bowled. And that one over where he got Rovman Powell and Shardul Thakur out was the turning point,” Gambhir said after the game.

“Young guy with such a great head on his shoulders. Too much of confidence, backing his skills. If the guy keeps working hard, he would probably become a very good player.”

23-year-old Mohsin Khan now has 8 wickets in 4 matches and has bowled economically conceding 6.07 runs per over.

It was the efforts of skipper KL Rahul (77 off 51) and Deepak Hooda (52 off 34) that helped Lucknow put up a match-winning total of 195.

Gambhir hailed the duo for their contributions but opined that LSG still needs to do much better to go all the way.

“We again got out of jail. KL was unbelievable, Hooda brilliant. I don’t think we have played our best cricket. Yes, we’ve got a win but I think we don’t want to put anything under the carpet. We still need to keep getting better in all the three areas and that is what champion sides do,” the former India batter asserted.
