Former Indian captain and batting maestro Virat Kohli has become one of the biggest talking points in the cricket fraternity for some time now. Kohli, who has 70 international tons, hasn’t been able to score a century in any format at any level since November 2019.

Not only Kohli has gone without a century for over two years now, but he has been struggling to score runs consistently ever since the resumption of the sport in 2020.

Shahid Afridi Questioned Virat Kohli’s Dedication

While Virat has time and again said that he is currently in a good space despite the big scores missing, several former cricketers and experts have criticized him. The latest one to join the bandwagon is former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, who has questioned Virat’s dedication as the star Indian batter continues to go through a poor run of form.

Afridi feels that Kohli needs to take a stock of where he currently stands. Afridi reckoned Kohli’s return to form depends on his attitude. He said:

“In cricket, attitude matters the most. That is what I talk about the most. Do you have the attitude towards cricket or not? That Kohli, earlier in his career, wanted to be the No. 1 batsman in the world… is he still playing cricket with the same motivation? That is the big question. He has the class. But does he really even want to be No. 1 again? Or does he think he has achieved everything in life. Now just relax and pass time? It’s all about attitude.”

It’s no doubt that Virat Kohli is craving to get big scores and glimpses of his old form were witnessed during the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. He is currently rested for the ongoing 5-match t20I series against South Africa. He will hit the field in a practice match next week and will play with Team India in the 5th Test match against England from July 1 to 5. He is also a part of the white-ball series that will follow.
