The International Cricket Council has named India’s middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav among five other shortlisted players who it feels will shine during the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, which is all set to kickstart from October 16th.
Suryakumar Yadav is currently hailed as the best T20 batsman in India right now, especially after his sensational performances in the year 2022. He is currently ranked at no.2 in the ICC T20I batsmen rankings, just 60 points behind no.1 batter Mohammad Rizwan. Suryakumar Yadav has scored 682 T20I runs in 2022, as he is currently the leading run-scorer in the shortest format in the calendar year. In fact, he recently became only the 5th Indian batter to score a T20I century, as he scored 117 vs England before Virat Kohli became the sixth batter to achieve this feat.

While Yadav had a forgettable T20 World Cup in the UAE last year, he has completely turned around the scenes this year and he is expected to play a crucial role for India in the upcoming marquee event.
Apart from Suryakumar Yadav, the ICC has also shortlisted Australian opener David Warner, Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga, England skipper Jos Buttler and Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan among its five players who could hog the limelight in the T20 World Cup 2022.
David Warner turned out to be the second-highest run-scorer in the 2021 World Cup in the UAE. With the benefit of playing on his home turf, Warner could emerge as the star of the tournament. Warner smashed three half-centuries in the WC last year at the strike rate of almost 150. Babar Azam had scored more runs than the Australian in the 2021 World Cup in the UAE.

Talking about Wanindu Hasaranga, he could help Sri Lanka dominate in Australia. He claimed the most wickets (16) in the 2021 edition of the tournament. He also finished Sri Lankan’s victorious Asia Cup campaign recently as the Player of the Tournament.
