Here’s Why Showing Vamika On TV Wasn’t Broadcaster’s Fault

This is what we all saw on Sunday during the third ODI between India and South Africa in Cape Town: Virat Kohli reached his fifty in the 25th over of India’s innings and the camera then showed Kohli’s wife, Anushka Sharma, holding their daughter, Vamika, cheering this milestone.

Anushka was beaming with elation and clapping happily. Virat Kohli then did the cradle baby celebration. The camera again went back to Anushka who was then seen pointing towards Kohli showing Vamika her father. Another slow-motion video from the broadcasters showed that Vamika, who recently turned one year old, was also slowly and cutely clapping on the landmark achievement of her father.

Here’s Why Showing Vamika On TV Wasn’t Broadcaster’s Fault

Well, the images and the videos of Vamika have, unsurprisingly, gone viral on social media. For it was the first time that the fans have had a proper look at little Vamika as Kohli and Anushka have, on a few occasions, requested the paparazzi to not take their child’s photo.

Why? This is what they had posted last month, in December, asking for Vamika’s privacy, this is a statement.

“We seek privacy for our child and would like to do our best to give her a chance to live her life freely away from media and social media. As she is older, we cannot restrict her movement and hence your support is needed so kindly practice (refrain) in the matter. A special thank you to fan clubs and people of the internet for going out of your way to not post images. It was kind and highly mature of you,” the power couple had said in a statement last month.

Fans adored the baby girl, showered love on her, and also noticed her obvious resemblance to Virat Kohli.

But, the power couple made another note to the fans and media on Monday morning, causing polarising reactions from netizens.

On their Instagram stories, Virat and Anushka wrote, “Hi guys! We realise that our daughters images were captured at the stadium yesterday and widely shared thereafter. We want to inform everyone that we were caught off guard and didn’t know that the camera was on us. Our stance and request on the matter stays the same. We would really appreciate if Vamika’s images are not clicked/published for reasons we have explained earlier. Thank you!”

This has divided the internet into two opinions. One that is bashing the broadcasters, SuperSport and Star Sports. Others are questioning Anushka and Kohli that despite knowing that dozens of cameras will be present at the stadium, why did they bring Vamika if they wanted her to be avoided from being photographed.
Here’s Why Showing Vamika On TV Wasn’t Broadcaster’s Fault
Criticizing the broadcasters for capturing and showing anything that happened inside the stadium is unfair. For they want to keep their audiences glued to the television sets.
Also, to think deeper, Virat Kohli himself made a celebratory gesture towards his daughter. Everyone knew he did that for his daughter. Bashing and blaming the broadcaster for actually showing Kohli’s daughter is not reasonable. It also noteworthy that
Anushka Sharma was spotted pointing her finger towards Virat Kohli and showing the live visuals to their daughter Vamika.
