The BCCI will finalize on the replacement of Chetan Sharma in the selection committee later on, with ample time left for the WTC final. Till then, the board has decided to let Shiv Sundar Das remain the interim chairman of the selectors.
The selection committee was reduced to 4 people after Sharma’s resignation last week following the sensational sting operation by Zee News that went viral, wherein Chetan talked about players taking fake injections and revealed inside details of the Ganguly-Kohli saga, among many topics he touched upon.

The BCCI selection committee now comprises 4 people: Subroto Banerjee, Salil Ankola, SS Das and S Sharath with SS Das leading the group as interim chief selector.
They, along with Rohit Sharma and Jay Shah recently announced the India squad for the next two Tests against Australia and the following ODI series.
TheBoard of Control for Cricket in India is not showing any hurry to ask for fresh applications – they received over 1000 applications last time – but instead, they might just invite those shortlisted the last time once again and replace Chetan.
“SS Das will continue as the interim chairman for now. We will take a call on the 5th selector in due course. See, the squads for the Australia series are announced and we have a two-month gap after that for IPL. We can take a call on that later during or before IPL for WTC,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport on Monday.
The Indian boardwants someone with extensive experience in the selection committee. The entire current selection committee has an international cricket experience of just 55 matches, with SS Das playing 23 matches. Hence, the board is vying for an experienced candidate to replace Chetan.
“There is no doubt we need a little more experience in the committee. But it’s not an ideal situation. We have to see what the CAC recommends. For the time being, the current panel will continue,” the official told InsideSport.
