VIDEO: When Sachin Tendulkar Scored First-Ever Double Hundred In ODI Cricket

Sachin Tendulkar, who is hailed as the greatest batter to has ever played the game of cricket, carried the burden of expectations of his nation on the cricketing field. Having written various chapters in his illustrious career with golden ink, Sachin created history on this day in 2010.

In 2010, when Sachin Tendulkar stepped onto the field in his 442nd ODI match at the Gwalior International Cricket Stadium, he wrote another piece of history in the ODI format playing against South Africa.

Sachin, the God of Cricket, became the first male player in the world to score a double hundred in the ODI format. Having glittered his career with several accolades during the course of his last two decades, Sachin was at it again as he brought his double century against South Africa n 24th February 2010, a year before Tendulkar led the ODI World Cup trophy under the leadership of MS Dhoni in 2011.

The milestone was achieved by Sachin when he took a single on Charl Langeveldt’s ball in the final over and ended a tense atmosphere of fans waiting anxiously for the first double century in the ODI format.

Sachin started his innings alongside Virender Sehwag. However, India didn’t have a great start for team India as Sehwag departed early and a young Dinesh Karthik walked into the pitch. Dinesh Karthik played a crucial knock of 79 years before returning to the pavilion.

Sachin then formed a crucial partnership with Yusuf Pathan and captain Dhoni took it until the final over of the innings to register the accolade.

Tendulkar’s innings was laced with 25 fours and 3 sixes, and it took him 147 deliveries to reach the historical milestone. With the help of Sachin’s knock, the Indian cricket team recorded 410/3 in their innings and would go on to win the match and therefore the series.
