Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur was in tears as she walked back to the pavilion after getting run out for a well-made 52 off 34 balls in the semi-final of the Women’s T20 World Cup against Australia. She was feeling an ocean of emotion in one go as she knew that could possibly be the decisive event of the game. And it was.
Harmanpreet Kaur’s Run-Out Reminded Everyone Of Dhoni’s Infamous Run-Out

Talking about the run-out, Harmanpreet’s bat got locked while trying to complete a second run on Thursday and that proved to be the turning point of the game as her untimely dismissal led to the heartbreaking five-run defeat of team India.
India was cruising as they needed just 41 runs off 33 balls with six wickets in hand when Harmanpreet’s unfortunate run-out took place. Richa Ghosh was also dismissed in the next over which yielded only 1 run. While the required run rate was increasing, Deepti Sharma was struggling to smash boundaries.
India lost under pressure once again, losing yet another knockout match to Australia in the last over. This time by five runs, while chasing 173.
Harmanpreet Shared An Emotional Message
Meanwhile, a day after the heart-breaking defeat Harmanpreet Kaur took to her social media and shared an emotional note for her fans. In her Tweet, she thanked everyone for their constant support to team India. She wrote:
“This is for all our fans across the globe who have supported us throughout this World Cup . I thank you for believing in our journey. I know as a cricket fan itโs sad to see your team loose . All I can say is that we will come back strongly and put a great show out there .๐๐ผ๐ฎ๐ณ”

During the post-match presser, she said: โThe way I got runout, can’t be unluckier than that. Putting in the effort was more important. We discussed fighting till the last ball. The result didn’t go our way, but I am happy with the way we played in this tournament. We know we have a good batting line up even if we lose early wickets. Need to give credit to Jemi for the way she batted today. She got us the momentum we were looking for.โ
