VIDEO: Richa Ghosh’s Inside-Out Shot Is Exactly Like Virat Kohli: The dreams of lifting an ICC trophy of the Indian women’s cricket team, and over a billion fans, were shattered, once again in a painful, as Harmanpreet Kaur’s team went down by a narrow margin of 5 runs to the mighty Australian side in the semi-final of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 in Cape Town.

Half-century from Beth Mooney and a brilliant all-round performance from Player of the Match Ashleigh Gardner trumped the largely two-women battle from Harmanpreet and Jemimah Rodrigues.

After Kaur’s dismissal – an unlucky run-out as he bat got jammed into the ground before she could slide it in the crease – India’s slender hopes remained on the young, but powerful shoulders of 19-year-old Richa Ghosh, who had been terrific in the group games.

However, the young wicket-keeper couldn’t take India over the finish line and was dismissed for 14 off 17 balls.

Richa Ghosh’s inside out shot is very similar to that of Virat Kohli

Richa Ghosh hit one boundary in her innings. It was a brilliant inside-out shot from the youngster that reminded fans of the way Virat Kohli hits his inside-out shots.

To seamer Tahila McGrath, Ghosh moved outside the leg stump to make room for herself and to a full ball, she got enough bat under it, and smoked it over cover for a boundary.

The ICC posted a video of Richa Ghosh’s inside out stroke alongside one from Virat Kohli from last year’s T20 World Cup in Australia. Fans were left astonished at the similarities between the duo playing this difficult shot, and the ease at which they did it to pacers.

Richa Ghosh was perhaps the brightest positive for India from this tournament, as she performed the lower-order hitting duties very well. The youngster scored 136 runs at a strike rate of 130.

Meanwhile, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was proud of the efforts her side put in throughout the tournament and in particular with the bat in the semi-final to keep the game alive till the last over.

“Can’t be unluckier than this, to get that momentum back when me and Jemi were batting. And to lose after that, we didn’t expect this today. The way I got runout, can’t be unluckier than that.

“Putting in the effort was more important. We discussed about fighting till the last ball. The result didn’t go our way, but I am happy with the way we played in this tournament. We know we have a good batting line up even if we lose early wickets. Need to give credit to Jemi for the way she batted today. She got us the momentum we were looking for.

“We can only learn from these lessons and not repeat the mistakes,” the skipper said.
