CSK’s 26-year-old opener reached his second fifty of the season in just 25 balls. Together with Devon Conway, they scored 110 runs as an opening pair. In the overs designated as the “powerplay,” the duo scored 79 runs. CSK’s total in home powerplay overs is now their highest ever.
Ravi Bishnoi took Gaikwad’s wicket, but Mark Wood at short third man caught the leading edge. With three fours and four sixes, he racked up 57 runs off of just 31 balls.
Gaikwad is the current Orange Cap holder. He hit four fours and nine sixes while batting for 92 runs off of 50 deliveries in the previous game. His 92-run knock couldn’t help his team win the Indian Premier League 2023 season opener, which the Gujarat Titans (GT) won by five wickets with four balls to spare.
In his current form, Ruturaj Gaikwad is regularly smashing sixes.
