CSK vs GT: Kane Williamson Injures His Knee Trying To Take Ruturaj Gaikwad’s Catch

During the IPL 2023 match between the Gujarat Titans and the Chennai Super Kings, Kane Williamson injured his knee when he attempted to stop a six by Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Kane Williamson made his Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 debut for the Gujarat Titans against the Chennai Super Kings, but the New Zealand captain was forced to leave the game after injuring himself while taking a catch.

At the Narendra Modi Stadium on March 31, CSK faced off against the defending champions. Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bowl first.

After Mohammed Shami stunned the defending champions by dismissing Devon Conway, CSK took the lead thanks to a fifty from Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Gaikwad was attempting to speed up, but Williamson displayed great agility by diving in front of the ball to prevent a six.

The New Zealand batter was able to stop the ball, but he hurt his knee in the process and could be seen wincing in agony. Kane had to be carried off the pitch, so the injury must have been serious.

When asked about Williamson’s injury, Titans coach Gary Kirsten hoped everything was all right with the star batter, who had just been purchased by Gujarat for Rs 2 crore at the IPL 2023 auction.

“You don’t like to see injuries like that, hopefully, he’s okay,” said Kirsten.

Williamson joined Gujarat after being released by Sunrisers Hyderabad following IPL 2023. The team was looking to strengthen its middle order.

CSK got to 133/4 after 15 overs in the first game of the IPL 2023 thanks to a good inning from Gaikwad, but he didn’t get any support from the other end and they kept losing wickets.

Moeen Ali scored 23 runs, Ben Stokes made his debut and scored 7 runs before being dismissed by Rashid Khan, and Ambati Rayudu contributed 12 runs before being dismissed by Joshua Little.
