An IPL fan shared his story of paying INR 20,000 for a ticket to see the Gujarat Titans play the Chennai Super Kings in the 2023 season opener. Over a million people packed Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad for the first game of the tournament.

The 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) got off to a rousing start with the defending champion Gujarat Titans (GT) defeating the Chennai Super Kings in the opening game (CSK). Over one lakh people showed up to watch the Titans play the CSK led by MS Dhoni, who is likely playing in his final season of the IPL, in the first game ever played at the world’s largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad. Tickets were extremely expensive because it was the first game to include an opening ceremony. A sports fan who spent INR 20,000 on the most expensive ticket possible described his time at the game.

The fan was escorted by a caddy to the stadium’s premium box, where he or she will enjoy free food and other perks. The spectator recorded his entire experience at the game, from entering the stadium to sitting in first-class luxury suites. The video was widely shared online, and it prompted an equally viral response from Shubman Gill.

Shubman Gill wrote, “Sahi hai bhai, hame to chal kar jaana padta hai (Good for you bro. We have to walk to the ground.)” The response went viral as it has received over 20k likes. Gill is killing it, both on and off the field as he was one of the star performers for his side in the tournament opener.

Gill smashed 63 runs off of 36 balls to keep the Titans ahead in their 179-run chase, and then the finishing duo of Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia cruised to victory with four balls to spare.

The Titans won their second consecutive game, this time against the Delhi Capitals, by a score of 6 wickets at the Arun Jaitely Stadium in the nation’s capital. With four points from their first two games, the Titans are in first place. On Wednesday, April 5, one of the Rajasthan Royals or the Punjab Kings will be joining them.
