Yashasvi Jaiswal has had a great start to his IPL 2023 campaign, a season in which he’s determined to make his breakthrough tournament and it could propel him into contention for the national team.
After showing flair and elegance last season, helping Rajasthan Royals reach the final in IPL 2022, Yashasvi , in the IPL 2023, has been showing his aggression in his 3 knocks so far: 54 (37) vs SRH, 11 (8) vs PBKS, and 60 (31) vs DC.
Against the Capitals, on Saturday afternoon, in Guwahati was at his belligerent best as he smashed 11 fours and 1 six in his 31-ball knock for 60 runs, and was involved in a blockbuster opening partnership of 98 runs in only 8.3 overs with Jos Buttler, who, for a rare instance, was overshadowed.
The young Yashasvi Jaiswal started the match with a jaw-dropping 5-boundary first over to Khaleel. It was a stunning start to RR and his innings that the 21-year-old left-hander got off to.
Khaleel started off with two short balls, which Yashasvi pulled and cut for fours, through mid-wicket and thirdman regions respectively, with the third man fielder misfielding what would have been only a single. On the 3rd ball, Khaleel went full and was driven easily through covers. The 4th ball was a dot ball, which the left-hander drove straight to cover fielder.
The southpaw then pumped a full ball from Khaleel down the ground for a majestic boundary wide of mid-on, and the last delivery of the over was cut over short third man to complete the over with 5 stunning fours.
