For Match number 12 of IPL 2023, and it is the bumper one, the most successful team in the IPL, Mumbai Indians(MI), are hosting the most consistent team in the IPL, Chennai Super Kings(CSK), on Saturday evening at the Wankhede stadium.
Rohit Sharma’s team is coming off a thrashing they got by RCB last Sunday. They have gotten five days’ rest and will be raring to register their first win of the season. MS Dhoni’s troop is coming off a victory, a close one, over LSG after they’d lost their first match to GT.
MI vs CSK: Injury Updates and Player Unavailability

Both sides have major injury concerns, however. For CSK, Moeen Ali is ill and Ben Stokes is injured, while Jofra Archer is also injured for MI, Rohit said it was a precaution, and he misses his first home game in MI colors.

MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to field first at the Wankhede.

Impact Player rule in IPL 2023:
The IPL 2023 also sees, for the first time in the competition’s history, the Impact Player rule. The BCCI has decided to introduce this new rule as it believes this will add a new tactical, strategic dimension to the game. A number of team sports in the world like football, rugby, basketball, and baseball allow teams to make tactical substitutions where the substitute is allowed to perform or participate like any other regular player.
Every captain will have to nominate substitutes and any one of them can be used as the team’s Impact Player and can bring that player into play at any time in the match – be it before the start of the second innings of the match; at the end of an over; at the fall of a wicket or when a batter retires.
