Dhoni is bringing the story of most successful sportsman in India’s history- Major Dhyanchand. Dhaynchand’s birthday i.e. 29th August is celebrated in India as National Sports Day. On his birthday, the President of India honours sports athletes with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, Arjuna and Dronacharya awards.
Dhyanchand scored 400 goals for India and his contribution to Indian hockey is second to none. According to some reports, German dictator Adolf Hitler once offered Major Dhyan Chand German citizenship, after an impressive showing at the Berlin Olympics. But, Dhyanchand, who was a true Indian, declined his offer and kept playing for India.
“Cricketer M.S. Dhoni has acquired the rights to the film and might produce it. It is still not clear whether Karan will be co-producing the film, but Rohit is very much directing the film with Varun,” claimed a report from the Deccan Chronicle.
Reportedly, actor Varun Dhawan first rejected the offer but later agreed.
