Age is just a number, MS Dhoni has proved this time and again. The 41-year-old legendary captain has kicked off the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League with a bang, hitting as many as 6 sixes from the last 4 games, delighting the local crowd in Chennai over the last two weeks of the ongoing season.

However, amidst all this, the biggest question around Dhoni is whether this is his final IPL season. It was asked two seasons before, and then again in the previous season. And now, once again in the 2023 edition of the IPL, the question regarding his retirement has become of the most discussed topics.

CSK captain MS Dhoni broke his silence on retirement

Amidst all the speculation among veterans and his former teammates, Dhoni has finally broken his silence with a gem of a reply. At a recent promotional event for Chennai Super Kings, Dhoni was asked whether the ongoing IPL 2023 will be his last season. Responding to this, Dhoni finally lifted the lid on the million-dollar retirement query with a stunning reply. He said:

“There is lots of time to take that call. Right now, we have lots of games, and the coach will be under pressure if I say something,”

CSK coach Stephen Fleming, who was sitting beside him, couldn’t stop laughing at Dhoni’s reply. The video of the same has been going viral on the internet.

While his retirement for Dhoni will definitely come after internal discussion but the announcement happens all of a sudden, which is the reason there are a lot of talks regarding his retirement. Back in 2014, Dhoni announced his Test retirement during the Australia tour out of nowhere, and then again, he left everyone heartbroken with his international retirement in August of 2020.
