Ajinkya Rahane

Senior Indian batter Ajinkya Rahane has been in a sensational form off-lately in the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League. Plying his trade for Chennai Super Kings, it won’t be wrong to say that the veteran batter has rediscovered himself in the ongoing tournament.

Rahane has shone under the captaincy of MS Dhoni at Chennai Super Kings, where he has piled up a mountain of runs at an amazing strike-rate of over 199.

Rahane’s hard work and dedication has been rewarded by the BCCI, as he was selected in the final Indian squad for the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia, which is scheduled to kickstart from 7th – 11th June (12th June is reserve day) at The Oval.

MS Dhoni behind Ajinkya Rahane’s selection?

It has to be noted that Ajinkya Rahane was out of the Indian Test scene since January 2022, however, all thanks to his brilliant form, he was recalled by the BCCI. He was picked up at his base price by CSK in the IPL 2023 mini auction, and he was benched in their first two games of this season. He was sent out to bat at no.3 in their third game, and ever since then there has been no turning backs for the batter.

Now, it has come to light that it was Dhoni, who was behind the selection of Rahane into the Indian team. As per a report by The Times Of India, the BCCI took inputs from Rahane’s captain at Chennai Super Kings and the former Indian skipper for his selection in the Indian team for the upcoming marquee tournament.
