Yashasvi Jaiswal has rocked the IPL 2023 with his blistering batting and admirable consistency. So much that he is now knocking on the doors of India’s T20I team and is the seniors remain rested, the young left-handed opener could find his way into the national side the next time the selectors pick India’s T20I team.
All of 21 years of age, Yashasvi Jaiswal is having his breakthrough IPL season, so much that he’s even overshadowed his teammates Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson.
He’s shown his pristine touch and elite class in his recent knocks. Three of his last 5 knocks read: 77(43) vs CSK,
124 (62) vs MI, and 98* off 47 vs KKR.
This stat says that Yashasvi Jaiswal is the next big thing in Indian cricket.

At just 21 years of age, this belligerent knock against KKR, which helped RR chased down 150 in only 13.1 overs, has gone into record books. This is now the fourth-highest unbeaten score by a 21-year-old in IPL history, following Rishabh Pant, Manish Pandey, and Devdutt Padikkal.
Highest IPL score at Age 21:
128* – Rishabh Pant
124 – Yashasvi Jaiswal
114* – Manish Pandey
101* – Devdutt Padikkal
99 – Prithvi Shaw
98* – Yashasvi Jaiswal*
97 – Rishabh Pant
85 – Rishabh Pant
This stat implies that like Rishabh Pant was touted for great success in international cricket after a blockbuster start to his IPL career, Yashasvi Jaiswal too is destined for India colors and immense success in it.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, while receiving the Player of the Match award, said: “This is always in my mind, to go out there and play well. It was a nice feeling today. It is not like everything I wanted happens, I prepare well and I trust in myself. I know the results will come. The winning shot was a great feeling, I wanted to finish the game and winning the game has been my motto.
“I’m blessed and grateful, I’m trying my best. (On whether he feels he missed out on a century) I think the net run rate was the only thing in our mind, me and Sanju were only talking about finishing the game quickly. (On the Buttler run out) I think it happens in the game, it gives me responsibility to do even better. And Sanju bhai came and said to keep playing my game, and not think about that run out. I’m just grateful for a tournament like the IPL where youngsters like me can come and perform. This has been a great platform for players like me to fulfill my dreams.”
Even the opposition captain Nitish Rana heaped praise on the 21-year-old Jaiswal, saying: “You have to praise his innings (on Jaiswal), it was a day when he could do anything he wanted. It was a 180 wicket as I said at the toss, our batting wasn’t great and that’s the result of us dropping 2 points. He was batting well right through the tournament, so I thought a part-time spinner could perhaps make him complacent, that was the plan, but he played superbly and those things do happen.”
