Here’s Why The SRH vs LSG Match Was Paused In Between

One bizarre incident led to another ugly, unexpected incident during the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Saturday afternoon.

On the 3rd ball of the 19th over of SRH’s innings, the on-field umpire gave a waist-high full toss as a no-ball. Super Giants reviewed it and, to the surprise of everyone, the third umpire overturned the no-ball call, suggesting that the batsman had been crouching a little.

This didn’t please the SRH home crowd and a ball later, it is believed, they threw something at the Lucknow Super Giants dugout right in front of them.

This no-ball call reversal from third umpire seems to have angered the SRH home crowd.

Why was the SRH-LSG match stopped and paused today?

Apparently, the SRH crowd, after being unhappy with the no-ball call from the third umpire, threw a bottle at the Lucknow Super Giants dugout. The Super Giants players and staff complained of it to the umpires and hence the match was halted for a few minutes.

Soon the crowd started a chant of “Kohli Kohli” to taunt mentor Gautam Gambhir who had a heated verbal battle with RCB and India star Virat Kohli earlier in the tournament.

It seemed really ugly and play had to be stopped for a few minutes as there were some complaints from the Super Giants team.

Heinrich Klassen first was seen talking with the Luckow Super Giants dugout and also his compatriot, wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock.

Klassen, who smashed 47 off 29 balls to take SRH’s total to 182, said he was also displeased with the actions of the crowd.

“Very disappointed with crowd, honestly. That is not what you expect from the crowd,” Klassen said. “It broke a lot of momentum. Not great umpiring either, they need to be consistent with their decisions.”

Meanwhile, earlier Aiden Markram won the toss and elected to bat first against LSG.
