Gautam Gambhir puts an impressive show in Duleep Trophy

Gautam Gambhir made a strong case himself after two brilliant performances in the Duleep Trophy. The Duleep Trophy started last month and it has been an exciting affair so far. This was the first time a pink-ball Test was played in India under the lights and players and officials have given satisfactory feedback so far.

Gautam Gambhir, who last played Test cricket for India in 2014, opened the innings for the India Blue and scored a 90 and 59 in two innings against the India Green. Gambhir also scored a 77 in the first-innings of the washed out game against the India Red’s.

Gambhir, played shots on both sides of the wicket and was especially severe on the spinners hitting them through cover as well deep mid-wicket region. Anything outside off-stump or onto his pads were punished equally. Gambhir looked solid and more aware about his off stump.

Gambhir has showed the will to make a comeback. He also gave an impressive performance in IPL 2016 and scored 501 runs in 15 matches for KKR and guided the team to the play-offs before losing to eventual champions Sunrisers Hyderabad.
