Shubman Gill Smashed The First Ever ‘Slam Dunk’ Six In Cricket

Phenomenal, sensational, blockbuster, these words won’t do justice to the knock Shubman Gill played against Mumbai Indians in the ongoing Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2023. Gill resumed his love affair with Ahmedabad as he registered yet another blistering century, his third, in the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League.

Gill continued his purple patch in the ongoing season as he helped his side post a target of 234. Gill started his innings cautiously against the talented Mumbai Indians’ pacers in the powerplay. However, he soon switched gears and took the game by storm.

Gill, who is tipped as the future of Indian batting, reached the triple figure in just 49 balls. Gill was eventually dismissed by Tim David after scoring a whopping 129 runs off 60 balls. His stellar knock was laced with 10 sixes and 6 fours.

While he impressed one and all with his batting prowess, displaying some of his best shots, however, his one shot left everyone awestruck, including the opposition.

The six came on the fourth ball of the 15th over, when Gill literally danced down to a short ball from Cameron Gill and smashed it for a maximum.

Later, after the first innings, when asked about the runs he scored and GT’s total of 233/3, Gill said: “Got a good total, hopefully we will defend this. A lot, sweat went into my eyes and I was not able to open them. We have played our best cricket when we have lost and this is one of those days. Definitely, it plays a part, you have to know which side to target, if it’s bigger boundaries and they bowl in good areas, look for doubles, smaller boundaries look to take it on. The new ball held up a bit, there was not much grass on that wicket, the ball was coming on nicely and with the outfield wet it stopped swinging after 2 overs.”
