Hailed as the ‘God Of Cricket’, Sachin Tendulkar was given a bundle of joy and happiness by the burly Tim David during the exciting clash between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede stadium on Sunday evening.
With 17 runs needed off the last over, the belligerent Tim David hammered RR pacer Jason Holde for 3 consecutive sixes on the first three balls to seal a memorable, thrilling chase of 213 runs and win Mumbai Indians that match by 6 wickets and 3 balls to spare.
After Tim David hit that second six, which brought the equation to only 5 needed off 4 balls, Sachin Tendulkar had a big laugh – beaming with happiness, elation, and joy at the victory that seemed a jailbreak now very much close.

Talking about the match, it was another run-fest at the Wankhede. After Yashasvi Jaiswal’s brilliant century (124 off 62 balls), MI didn’t have a good start, losing Rohit Sharma (3 off 5) early in the chase and Ishan Kishan (28 off 23) struggling for boundaries. But their middle-order trio made it all possible – Cameron Green (44 off 26), Suryakumar Yadav (55 off 29), and Tim David (45* off 14) finished it off with 3 sixes in the last over off Holder.
“Very pleasing to see how we chased this. Last game here also we came close to a similar target. We have the ability but need to back ourselves. (On David being next Pollard) Big shoes to fill, Polly for so many years won us so many championships. But Tim has so much ability and power. In the back end, having that power keeps the bowler thinking,” the MI captain said.
This was MI’s 4th win in 8 matches and they are tied on points with RCB. MI are still positioned 7th in the points table.
