Indian captain Rohit Sharma was hit on his thumb ahead of the much-awaited ICC World Test Championship final against Australia at the Kennington Oval on Tuesday.

Going by the images, Rohit suffered a blow on his left thumb during the optional net session. He was attended by the team’s physio, following which he returned to the nets. But as per the reports, Rohit didn’t continue with the practice session as a precautionary measure.

Rohit Sharma Suffered A Thumb Injury Ahead Of WTC Final 2023

He was hit during the optional practice session on the eve of the opening day of the summit clash. Rohit was facing a throwdown in the nets when he got hit on his left thumb.

Notably, the Indian captain was spotted wearing a bandage on his right arm a few days before and now he has been hit on the thumb of the other hand.

An official update from the BCCI about Rohit Sharma’s availability for the much-awaited fixture should be out in the next few hours as the Indian cricket team is still having a net session at The Oval.

Rohit, who made his Test debut in 2013, is all set to play his 7th Test match in England. This is also the first time that Rohit will lead the Indian cricket team in the final clash of an ICC tournament.

After taking over the reins from Virat Kohli in early 2022, Rohit has led the Indian cricket team in 6 Tests – but all at home. Interestingly, the last time Rohit played at this venue stuck his maiden Test hundred outside the sub-continent – a 127 against England in 2021 as he helped India register its first Test win at the venue in 50 years.
