Veteran England cricketer Stuart Broad went out of cricket in the dream style for any batsman as he cracked a stunning pull shot six to Mitchell Starc on what would turn out to be the last ball of his career!
After remaining not out along with James Anderson as the last pair in England’s second innings at the close of stumps on Day 3 in the 5th Ashes 2023 Test at The Oval, Stuart Broad announced that he will be retiring from cricket at the conclusion of this Test, and thus the series.
On the morning of Day 4 at The Oval, Broad walked down the stairs along with James Anderson to a raucous standing ovation from the jam-packed crowd and also got a guard of honor from the Australian players who stood in two parallel lines to welcome Broad in his last Test innings.
Stuart Broad was on strike for the first over of the day, bowled by Mitchell Starc. On the first five balls of the over, the left-hander tried to smack Starc but either he couldn’t connect properly or the ball went straight to a fielder.
But on the last ball of the over, Broad shuffled a bit outside the leg-stump, judged the length of a short ball perfectly, and cracked a majestic pull that went sailing over the deep midwicket fielder for a fantastic six. The crowd was up on their feet cheering once again.
That would turn out to be the last ball that Stuart Broad would face in his career as Anderson got out to Todd Murphy in the next over.

England have set Australia a sizeable target of 384 runs with almost two days of play left, although some of it might get washed out due to the predicted rain. Australia need a win or a draw to secure the series – which would be their first Test series win in England in 22 years – while England will be aiming to level the series 2-2.
