India captain Rohit Sharma is gearing up for the World Cup 2023 at home, it is most likely to be his last ODI World Cup as Rohit is already 36 years of age. This could also be his last ICC tournament if he doesn’t play T20Is too after this.
Nonetheless, Rohit Sharma, who won the 2007 T20 World Cup in South Africa, is desperate to win an ODI World Cup, the tournament which is hailed as the pinnacle in the cricket world by many fans. Having missed out on the squad in the 2011 World Cup, Rohit has come a long way to become the captain of the side, one of the most successful ODI batters of all time, and also has a penchant for hitting sixes.
Recently, half-jokingly, Rohit Sharma proposed that the MCC and the ICC make changes to the cricket laws and that more runs should be awarded for hitting bigger sixes.

Speaking with journalist Vimal Kumar on his YouTube channel, Rohit was asked about one change he would like to make in the cricket rules. Without hesitating, the India captain said that a batsman should get 8 runs for a six over 90 meters and 10 runs for a six that goes over 100 meters.
The right-handed opener opined that big hitters like Chris Gayle used to smash 100-meter sixes, and yet get six runs for that, the same amount of runs a batter would get for hitting a 70-meter sixer.
Rohit Sharma said: “If the batter hits a 90M six, it should be 8 runs. If it’s a 100M six, it should be 10 runs. People like Chris Gayle smashed 100M sixes for fun and got only 6, bit unfair.”
Rohit himself is known for his penchant and ability to hit big sixes and regularly hit the maximums. In fact, he’s eyeing a big record in the coming weeks. Rohit is just two sixes away from equalling and 3 sixes away from breaking Gayle’s record of most sixes in international cricket.
Gayle hit 553 sixes in his international career, while Sharma has already hit 551 sixes. He’s likely to break that record in the World Cup.
