Aakash Chopra Slammed The Hectic International Schedule Of Team India After Rohit Sharma’s Injury

The year 2020 has started with a bang for Team India. They have won all the three series they played in the first month. However, the year still has a lot in store for the cricketers and cricket fans. From the new season of IPL to the T20I World Cup, there are a lot of exciting and interesting events and tournaments scheduled ahead for India.
Last year as well, Team India’s calendar comprised of three-ODI match series against Australia, a limited-overs tour of New Zealand, five ODI match series against the Men in Yellow, IPL 2019, 50-over World Cup, a full-fledged tour to Windies and home series, with teams including the likes of South Africa, Bangladesh and West Indies.
While it is always a delight to watch Men in Blue in action, however, the hectic schedule of the Indian cricket team is also a worrisome matter.

Over the past few months, due to the hectic schedule of Team India, many key players of the Indian team, including the likes of Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal, have suffered injuries while playing. Recently, in the just concluded final of 5 T20I series, Rohit Sharma was ruled out of the ODI and Test series in New Zealand due to a calf injury.
This update was enough to make former cricketer and presenter Aakash Chopra curious about India’s schedule in International. He took to his Twitter and slammed the international schedule for the Indian cricket team for being too hectic. Aakash Chopra wrote:
“Pandya, Bhuvi, Chahar, Bumrah and Rohit….five of India’s KEY players have been injured in the last 8-10months. (Not counting Dhawan because of the freak nature of his injuries) Reasonably serious and workload related injuries. Is India playing too much International cricket?”

In another tweet, he wrote how tough it is for the team to travel and play so many matches back-to-back. He wrote:
“Also, it’s indeed a little tough to play two 3-match series in two weeks and then travel half the planet (within 4 days) to play 5 more in 10 days. Thoda zyada intense hai, me feels.”

A few days ago, Indian skipper Virat Kohli also questioned the officials for the tight schedule of team India. Addressing the media ahead of the opening T20I at Eden Park, Virat had said:
“It’s getting closer and closer to landing at the stadium straight. That’s how compressed the gap has become. This kind of traveling to a place that is seven and a half hours ahead of IST is difficult to adjust immediately. Hopefully, this will be taken into consideration in the future,” he pointed. “But this is the year of the World Cup and every T20 is important. So we can’t lose our focus.”
