AB de Villiers has apologized and clarified his previous statement on Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s impending second child.
After withdrawing from the first two Tests against England, having landed in Hyderabad to prepare for the series, Virat Kohli has pulled out from the next two Test matches also as he continues to tend to a family emergency. He is reportedly in London right now.
A few days ago, AB de Villiers, Kohli’s good friend and former RCB teammate, revealed on his YouTube channel that Kohli and his wife, Anushka Sharma, are expecting their second child and that was the reason for the 35-year-old not featuring in the first two Tests.
Are Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma havinga second child?
No. AB de Villiers has apologized for his statement and also confirmed that the news of Kohli and Anushka’s impending second child – which he had revealed to everyone – is also not true.
AB de Villiers told Dainik Jagran, “Family comes first and then cricket. I had made a big mistake on my YouTube channel. That information was wrong and not true at all.”
He added, ” I think whatever’s best for Virat’s family comes first. No one knows what’s happening there and what’s the reason Virat Kohli taking a break. We all can wish him for best wishes. And I hope he can comeback stronger, better and fresh from this.”
The BCCI selectors are expected to announce the squad for the rest of the three Tests – or the next two Tests – on Friday.
While Virat Kohli will not feature in the third and fourth Tests, and probably in the fifth Test as well, India are set to gain a boost with the return of KL Rahul, who missed the second Test in Vizag, due to a quad injury. There were reports of the selectors pondering over giving Jasprit Bumrah a rest for one Test match, but with the Rajkot surface known to assist pacers and Bumrah being in good form, the fast bowler is likely to play in Rajkot.
Ravindra Jadeja, however, has not yet recovered from his hamstring injury and will miss at least the next game.
