AB de Villiers, the South African cricketing superstar, has come out in support of Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer, who found himself at the receiving end of criticism after he dropped a catch that changed the entire momentum for South Africa as the visitors ended the game with a 7-wickets win.
AB is viewed as the greatest fielder in the world during his playing days. the former Proteas cricketer picked many stunning catches. He was often seen flying around, picking some incredible catches, and showing a remarkable sense of fielding.
AB de Villiers Shared A Cryptic Tweet

On Friday, Ab took to his Twitter and highlighted the efforts of a fielder by saying how the fielders don’t get enough credit for standing in the sun for hours but they have to be on their toes for all those hours to take a game-changing catch in a split second. Calling it an ‘unforgiving job’, AB feels that the fielders don’t get enough appreciation but the crowd is always ready to go against them when they drop a catch. He wrote:
“Not nearly enough emphasis put on the importance of catching, especially in Test Cricket. Often the difference between 250 all out and 400+. Fielders also don’t get enough credit for standing in the sun for 6-7 hours and then having to take the match changing catch in a split sec”
He added: “Unforgiving job with lots of pressure and no rewards, no honorary board mentions, just a tap on the back for a good catch and then that awkward silence from your mates and crowd booing when u let it slip”

What is it about?
Well, for the unversed, his comments came after England dropped as many as three catches on the first day of the ongoing Trent Bridge Test, however, it was the catch of Daryl Mitchell that turned out to be the costliest one. Mitchell made them pay for that dropped catch as he went on to score 64 more runs and is still unbeaten to the disappointment of the England team.
