AB de Villiers’ Ultimate Praise For The Pant-Jadeja Partnership

AB de Villiers‘ Ultimate Praise For PantJadeja: By the end of Day 3 in the ongoing Edgbaston Test between India and England, it is the visitors who have their noses in front with a big lead. However, the start for them had been really poor and concerning on the morning of Day 1.

Veteran pacer James Anderson and new Test entrant Matthew Potts had India reeling at 98/5 before a stunning partnership of 222 runs from 239 balls pulled them back in the game.

Rishabh Pant was in a rollicking mood and went as usual about his business, taking the attack to both pacers and spinners and notched up his century – his second in England – in 89 balls, and finished with 146 off 111 balls.

On the other end, Jadeja was the perfect second-fiddle to Pant’s assault and vindicated the management’s decision to play him over R Ashwin by raising his third Test ton – and first away from home – helping India go past 400, aided by Bumrah’s 31* off 16 balls.

AB de Villiers gives the biggest praise for Pant and Jadeja

Praises from all corners showered in for the two left-handers for their terrific partnership on Day 1. But perhaps the biggest compliment of all came from the legendary South African batsman AB de Villiers, who said that he had missed most parts of the game, but hailed the duo as among the best Test partnerships he has ever seen!

“Haven’t been home and missed most of the Cricket action. Finished watching the highlights now. That counterattack partnership from @RishabhPant17 and @imjadeja is right up there with the best I’ve ever seen in Test Cricket!” AB de Villiers tweeted.

Meanwhile, India have ended Day 3 with an upper hand on the game after Jonny Bairstow’s blitzkrieg. Bairstow was dismissed for 106 and soon England folded for 284, in reply to India’s 416, handing the visitors a lead of 132.

In their second innings, India lost Shubman Gill (4), Hanuma Vihari (11) and Virat Kohli (20) but Cheteshwar Pujara held his end tightly to score a gritty fifty on his return to the Test side. India are 125/3, leading by 257 runs, with Pujara on 50* and Rishabh Pant 30*.
