RCB women’s off-spinner Shreyanka Patil was over the moon upon meeting with RCB and India legend Virat Kohli on Tuesday. Patil said it was the “moment of my life”.
The Chinnaswamy stadium hosted the RCB Unbox event on Tuesday evening with Alan Walker being the headliner DJ. But the stars of the show this time were the RCB women’s team. The Smriti Mandhana-led side brought the first-ever trophy RCB have won: the WPL 2024 trophy, which RCB women won on Sunday in Delhi.
The RCB men’s players gave a guard of honor to the women’s team. The players met each other and the men congratulated the women for their historic achievement.
One of the key players of the RCB women’s title-winning team is Shreyanka Patil, who won the Purple Cap for her 13 wickets in 8 games at an average of 12.08.
Sharing a picture with Virat Kohli from the event, Patil revealed that Kohli praised her for her bowling. She posted an emotional tweet about her meeting with Kohli, who has been with RCB since 2008 when Shreyanka was only five years old.
“Started watching cricket cos of him. Grew up dreaming to be like him. And last night, had the moment of my life. Virat said, “Hi Shreyanka, well bowled”. He actually knows my name 😬😬😬,” Shreyanka Patil tweeted.
Day in and day out we put our hard work: Shreyanka Patil
Shreyanka Patil, who has also played for India, thanked the fans in her speech after RCB secured the trophy. She spoke about the emotions in the RCB camp, especially in coach Luke Williams.
“They keep saying ‘Ee sala cup namde’ and we got it. That’s it guys, it is for the fans… Day in and day out we put our hard work. We felt like family. We did not know Luke (Williams, head coach) much. During the last game that we won against Mumbai, he had tears. We are looking forward to continuing this,” Patil said.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is gearing up for his return to cricket after a break of more than two months due to the birth of his child in London. Kohli and RCB will take on MS Dhoni’s CSK on March 22 at Chepauk.
